Well the move is on, if you didn’t get your letter yet, here are the details in brief.
- Transfer to be completed by 1st March, after this old allotments will be ploughed and planted with trees.
- JCB & trailer will be available on Monday 22nd Feb & Monday 1st March in order to move heavy materials. Contact council on 087 1214641 or 01 8905605 to arrrange.
- The council will help with moving manure heaps, cheds, fruit trees so make contact.
- Fruit trees can be excavated by the JCB, but the new planting pit must be dug by allotment holder.
- Sheds to be moved must be dismantled and placed on pallets. Pallets are available from the council.
- All allotment holders will have to clear their old plots of fences, sheds, plants etc. Any materials that you do not wish to transfer (metal, wood, plastics) are to be stacked near a pathway, so that the council can collect these materials and dispose of them.
- The new scheme has two car parks and it will be expected that all allotment holders use these two car parks.
- To allow everyone to bring in heavy items to their plot the new scheme will be accessible to cars until March 28th after this the bollards will be locked in place. After this large deliveries must be arranged with the Parks Division who can unlock the bollards.
- Please note that the overflow carparks are only recently finished and the grass pavers are not settled so do not drive over them yet.
- The official allotment opening is SATURDAY 13TH MARCH 2010.
- Currently opening until 4.30 pm.
- After 28th March the new allotment scheme will only be accessible to registered allotment holders. The gates will be locked outside of opening hours.
